hiring a cinema screen for your premiere

even though Crooked Features isn't even in rough-cut form yet, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest any good UK/South-East based venues?

i think it'd be pretty cool at the Prince Charles, it can be hired on a weekday 1pm-3pm for ?750+VAT which seems pretty reasonable to me.

anyone got any better/alternate ideas? cheap is always good :-)

Curzon Soho can be hired out for screenings - and I don't remember it being all that expensive (although I'd have thought it's probably not as cheap as The Prince Charles). Check it out, it's a cool venue.

The cinema's in the West End can all be very accomadating under the right conditions. I worked as a manager for 4 years and know the kind of requests that were made.

Early in the morning is the cheapest you'll get, around 11am. I worked at an Odeon, and a director approached me about showing his film in our main screen at 11am. He said that they would film some behind the scenes footage for the DVD release, and would include the cinema in the footage ( Odeon LOVE any kind of free marketing ), and so we hired the number 1 screen out to him for a little over ?100.

Appeal to their sense of helping out a struggling film maker and stress your low budget and they can often come through for you.

The Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley where I live is available to hire out. I don't know if you know it but it's one of the oldest cinemas in London and looks amazing inside.

I think it probably works out cheaper than the Prince Charles.

Mr. Young's cinema in D'Arblay Street in Soho (around the corner from Stanley's Productions who can copy a print for you and you can carry it into the cinema in two minutes). 44-seater cost ?150 + VAT (they also accept, erm, "cash"). Can show 35mm as well as stream it from a laptop (like I did).
